Angus Mitchell
Angus Mitchell
Veterinary Surgeon
BVMS, MRCVS

Graduated from Glasgow University in 1974, joined Wicstun in October of 1974. Obtained Graduate Certificate in Cattle Health and Production in 1992. I enjoy all aspects of mixed practice with a special interest in cattle diseases and their control on farms. Angus contributes to our Farm Newsletter. In my “time off” I enjoy family life and in particular recently celebrated the birth of our first grandchild “Violet”. I enjoy all country sports and pursuits. I enjoy my garden and in particular growing vegetables. I play golf and enjoy watching rugby.

Graduated from Cambridge in 1986. I worked for 4 years at Corbridge, then spent 2 years at Alnwick in Northumberland, both mixed practices. Having seen practice as a student with the Wicstun Veterinary Group I returned as an assistant in 1992 becoming a partner in 1994. I still enjoy being a mixed practice practitioner (except poultry and exotics!) In my time away from the practice I enjoy travel, driving, good dining, family & friends.

Graduated from Glasgow in 1986, joined Wicstun in 1992. I enjoy a variety of mixed practice with a special interest in companion animal surgery. In my “time off” I enjoy following my sons playing Rugby. I enjoy many out-door pursuits including: mountaineering, skiing, golf and walking my two un-ruly dogs!

Graduated from Bristol in 1994, joined Wicstun in 1997. I enjoy a variety of mixed practice but mainly large animal. I have a particular interest in all aspects of Pig veterinary medicine and health assurance. In my “time off” I enjoy time with my family.

Graduated from Edinburgh in 1998, joined Wicstun in 1999. I enjoy a variety of mixed practice and have particular interest in the management of Game Birds. I am currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. In my “time off” I enjoy time with my family and many animals. I am also restoring a property.

Graduated from Royal Veterinary College, London in 2004, joined Wicstun in 2005 and became a partner in 2011. I enjoy the variety of mixed practice and I am particularly interested in companion animal medicine. In my “time off” I enjoy most sports, outdoor pursuits and spending time with my family and ever expanding group of animals including horses, sheep, chickens and alpacas.

Graduated from Edinburgh in 2006, joined Wicstun in 2011 I enjoy all aspects of mixed practice but equine is my particular favourite. In my “time off” I enjoy breeding, producing and competing event horses. I have a young family who I have great pleasure in spending time with and watching them grow and develop. I am also developing a property and enhancing my DIY skills and thoroughly enjoy gardening. As a family we also raise rare breed sheep, pigs and poultry.

Graduated from Edinburgh 2001, joined Aldgate in Driffield and Wicstun in 2004. I do genuinely enjoy all aspects of my work, but I especially love being outside and the challenges that are presented when working with large animals. In my time off I enjoy being a mum and married to a farmer means I am rather short on ‘me’ time! However, I love my garden and relaxing there with friends and a glass of wine is my ideal way to end a busy day.

Having grown up on a local family farm, Emma did work experience with us whilst at Vet School. Emma graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2010, and worked in mixed practice in Leicestershire for two years, before moving back to Yorkshire to work in a local mixed practice, with a higher proportion of time spent on the farmwork. Emma thoroughly enjoys all aspects of the mixed practice work, and the variety which it provides day to day. Outside of work, Emma's time is spent with her two horses, and two terriers. Emma competes in county level Working Hunter classes, and is enjoying bringing her young Irish horse on.

Joined Wicstun in 2008 as a Degree qualified nurse (BSc Hons) from the Royal veterinary college in London.

I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job and specialise in providing our patients with post operative physiotherapy. As part of my role I enjoy developing the nurse clinics and organising events. Outside of work I enjoy competing my horse “Kai”.

Qualified Veterinary Nurse

Qualified 2006 – Myerscough College. NVQ level 2&3 in Veterinary Nursing. Qualified as a clinical coach and assessor in 2009. Started at Wicstun in 2007.

I enjoy working in theatre and scrubbing in to help with orthopaedic surgical cases. I also enjoy interacting with clients during nurse clinics and consultations. My true vocation in practice is training and mentoring student veterinary nurse’s encouraging them to complete their training and eventually gaining their qualified veterinary nurse status.

Joined Wicstun in 2006 as a trainee nurse qualifying in 2010 from the College of Animal Welfare.

In practice my interests are radiography (x-ray), assisting the vets on equine visits and procedures and delivering nurse clinics. Out of practice I enjoy walking by 2 spaniels “Kimi” and “Lexi” and breaking in my new addition “Piper”.

Joined Wicstun as a trainee in 2009. I qualified in 2012 gaining a Higher National Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. Throughout my training I attended college one day a week in Leeds the rest of my time spent in practice with my clinical coach.

I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job and find nursing hospitalised patients particularly rewarding. I also have a particular interest in animal behaviour. Out of work I like taking my families dogs to the beach and walking rescue dogs. In addition, I enjoy walking and spending time with my new addition “Belle” who is a very energetic spaniel.

Qualified in 2014 with a Level 3 diploma in veterinary nursing from College of animal welfare. Joined Wicstun in 2014

I enjoy nurse clinics and interacting with animals and their owners. I also enjoy caring for hospitalised patients to provide the best care and monitoring there progress. I am the proud owner of “Persie” the cat and my new addition Jax.

I qualified in 2007 from Myerscough college gaining an NVQ level 2 and 3 in Veterinary Nursing. I joined Wicstun in 2014 after working in various practices locum nursing. In practice I enjoy nurse clinics and lab work. Out of practice I enjoy spending time with my young family and taking care of my cat “Billy” and 2 guinea pigs - “Hedge” and “Hog”.

I qualified as a nurse in Dec 2014 from college of animal welfare and joined Wicstun April 2016.I enjoy working in theatre and ward and been hands on nursing of the animal patients. Outside of work I enjoy walking my cocker spaniel “Pippa” and looking after my cat and two guinea pigs.

Graduated from Harper Adams university in 2016 with first class honours in BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nurse and practice management. Awarded best overall student. Joined Wicstun in sept 2016. Enjoy all aspects of nursing but favourite roles are theatre work and intensive care nursing. Outside of work I enjoy walking my patterdale terrier “Pippa”.

Joined Wicstun Aug 2016. I did two years of animal management at Bishop Burton College. I enjoy learning and developing my knowledge and skills. Outside of work I enjoy socialising with friends and also looking after my dog “Sammy”.
