We are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Nurse Management team at our brand new, purpose built hospital in Market Weighton.
The nursing management team lead and support our 30 strong nursing team – RVN’s, SVN’s and KA’s. The role also includes the day to day running of clinical areas, nursing care, administration and teaching and training.
Our nurses have different clinical interests with many working towards further qualifications in ECC, behaviour, nutrition and more!
You will ideally have:
- Leadership experience (desirable but training available)
- Confident with all aspects of general veterinary nursing
- Must have a positive outlook and thrive on being busy!
We are open to applications from an experienced RVN wanting to take the next step in their career or an experienced Head Nurse looking for a new challenge.
This is a full time permanent position (40 hours) and you will also be part of our weekend rota (1:12 full weekends) but with no OOH (as we have a dedicated night team!).
We are one of the few remaining independent groups in the area and our Partners are very proud of the family run feel.
Our new, purpose built hospital is well equipped with dedicated dog and cat waiting areas and boarding, isolation ward, 3 theatres and a hydrotherapy and laser suite.

Wicstun Veterinary Group are expanding the Client Care Team here at our Market Weighton Hospital. We are looking for a Receptionist with excellent front of house, customer service skills.
The role would suit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who takes pride in their work and can work well as part of a team.
- 30 – 40 hours available (including weekends and evenings)
- Weekday shifts are 8am – 7pm, 8am – 1:30pm, 1:30pm – 7pm
- Weekend shifts are 8am – 1pm or 1pm – 7pm (Sat), 9am – 2pm or 2pm – 7pm (Sun)
- Previous experience in a receptionist role is essential
- Experience within a clinical or veterinary setting is desirable (not essential)
- Able to work without direct supervision
The role as a Receptionist with Wicstun Vets is vital to the service we offer. As the first point of contact we require a professional approach and discretion where required. The main duties of the role:
- Answering telephones and diverting or taking messages ensuring prompt delivery and accurate details.
- Monitoring practice email and directing enquiries to the relevant department
- Accurately inputting patient data to the computer system as required
- Dealing with all general enquiries, explaining procedures in place and making new and follow up appointments.
- Processing repeat prescription requests ensuring the pharmacy receive in a timely manner.
- Advising patients of relevant charges, taking payments and providing receipts and invoices where applicable.
- Ensuring that waiting areas, reception and patient toilets are kept clean, tidy and stocked up.

Careers in the Veterinary Profession
Wicstun Vets are proud to be an accredited Training Practice for Veterinary Nurses. We have a number of clinical coaches on our team and we thoroughly enjoy guiding our students through their practical and academic studies. We have a structured approach to gaining practical experience in line with learning – there’s always a healthy dose of fun to help everything along.
We welcome student vets to spend time with us whilst studying towards their Veterinary Medicine Degree. This helps them to gain insight into everyday day life in practice. Many of our Veterinary Team spent time with us as students, some of them a long time ago! It’s always great to welcome them back.
Our support teams are here to look after the many non-clinical aspects of life in veterinary practice. Health and Safety, human resources, business administration, customer care, operational running – our support teams form a vital part of providing veterinary services. We welcome people from a variety of backgrounds and experience to the team.
